Did You Know?

July 27th, 2017 by Charles Young

IMG_8781IMG_8990IMG_9469IMG_8808IMG_8448Our beautiful little barrier island in northern Florida offers up plenty of pristine beaches, quaint walkable downtown, top-notch restaurants, fantastic water activities and plenty of history.  But did you know Amelia Island has 13 MILES of unspoiled beaches, most with free public access? Or that we have 42 MILES of scenic biking and hiking trails?  What about that it was named for a princess and was a home to wayward pirates?  How about that it has 117 holes of golf with 7 holes on the Atlantic Ocean?  And that it has a 50 BLOCK National Historic District with 100-plus restaurants (more than 30 within walking distance from our inn)!  Did you know that 8 FLAGS have flown over the island since 1564?  Learn even more when you come to stay awhile! See you soon on the island.

Fresh Seafood at its Best!

August 27th, 2012 by Charles Young

Love fresh seafood?  Then don’t miss the recently opened Timoti’s Fry Shak!  In addition to offering daily specials, Carlin Catanzaro, manager, says the grilled fish and shrimp tacos and the fried shrimp baskets are some of the more popular items on the menu.  She adds that Timoti’s supports the local community by buying fresh produce from the downtown Farmer’s Market, local wild shrimp, and even local beers (try the Intuition line brewed in nearby Jacksonville)!  Located in the heart of the historic district (and within walking distance from the Blue Heron Inn), Timoti’s is a great place to hangout for a good bite or cold beer.  Even the kids can enjoy their own magical ship!
